Dear Patty:
I know that you neither expect nor require thanks for all the extraordinary work that you do for the Bar Association and Foundation, which is a good thing because I can't even begin to thank you. You regularly and impeccably take on the challenge of feeding and "beveraging" dozens of stressed-out, busy, and occasionally antagonistic professionals, most of whom have extremely high standards. If I had to take on the culinary demands of Bar Association members, I believe I would have to resign. I just don't think I could take it.
Please know how much your skill, hard work, and creativity are appreciated. I am frequently too rattled to mention it, but your work is always extraordinary. And again, although I don't always get a chance to tell you that in person, it might interest you to know that in the five or six years in which we have been working together, I have not had a single complaint about the food brought to my attention. Of course, there are the frequent raves about the food, which is far more encouraging to think about. However, for me, the fact that I have not had to think about, deal with, or fix the food arrangements in any way for months and months and years has been extraordinarily important. It allows me to focus on the things that I do best and leave those details in your competent hands.
Thank you for everything. Thank you for this evening. With this letter is a signed copy of Mr. Ashcroft's book as a small token of my thanks.
